You don't need to have everything figured out before you begin
People often come to therapy knowing that something is difficult without knowing exactly how to describe it. You do not need a perfect explanation, a diagnosis, or a carefully defined goal before making an appointment. We can begin with what you know now.
The first appointment
The first session gives us time to talk about what brought you in, what has been happening in your life, relevant history, and what you would like to be different. It is also an opportunity for you to get a sense of how I work and whether the relationship feels like a good fit.
The initial appointment is a clinical session and is billed as such; Peaceful Psychology does not currently offer a separate free consultation.
An individualized process
There is no single formula for therapy. Some people arrive with a specific problem they want to address. Others want to understand recurring patterns, relationships, identity, meaning, or a more diffuse sense of dissatisfaction. We will decide together what deserves attention and adjust the work as your understanding and needs develop.
Frequency and length of treatment
How often we meet and how long therapy continues depends on your needs, goals, circumstances, and availability. These are decisions we can discuss together rather than assumptions made before we begin.
In person or telehealth
In-person appointments are available at the Akron, Ohio office. Secure telehealth is available to clients located in Ohio, Texas, and Virginia, subject to applicable licensure and telehealth requirements.
